Patios & Interlock
Hardscape

The base is
everything

Compacted base, polymeric joints, and drainage planning that prevents the heaving and pooling you see on cheap installs.

Cross-section

What's underneath

A patio is only as good as what you can’t see. We over-engineer the 14 inches below the stone so it stays flat for years.

0"

Pavers + polymeric joint

Techo-Bloc / Unilock laid to pattern, edges restrained, joints stabilized.

1"

Screeded bedding sand

Coarse concrete sand screeded to a precise plane, never stone dust.

5"

¾" clear stone compacted

Open-graded base in 4" lifts, plate-compacted to refusal between every lift.

10"

Geotextile separation fabric

Stops the base from migrating into the subgrade, the main cause of long-term sinking.

14"

Compacted native subgrade

Sloped for drainage. Soft spots over-excavated and replaced.

01

Engineered Base

Geotextile, ¾ clear, and proper compaction at every lift.

02

Drainage First

Slope analysis, French drains, and surface flow planning.

03

Feature Elements

Firepits, raised planters, low retaining walls.

Build sequence

Five lifts to a flat finish

Lift 1

Layout & grading

Mark the footprint, confirm slopes for drainage, locate any drains needed.

Lift 2

Excavation

Dig down 10–14" depending on use, set up edge restraints.

Lift 3

Base prep

Geotextile, ¾" clear stone in compacted lifts, screeded bedding layer.

Lift 4

Paver install

Pavers laid to pattern, cut at borders, edges restrained.

Lift 5

Joints & seal

Polymeric sand joints, optional sealer for color and stain resistance.

Materials

Premium pavers, real stone.

  • Techo-Bloc, Unilock, or Permacon pavers
  • Natural flagstone or limestone
  • Polymeric jointing sand
  • Permeable paver systems available
  • Integrated lighting and firepit kits
FAQ

What people ask.

What about weeds in the joints?+

Polymeric sand hardens between pavers and blocks most weed growth. We re-treat at the 5-year mark if needed.

Will it heave in winter?+

Not with our base spec. Cheap installs heave because of inadequate base depth and poor drainage — both of which we over-engineer.

Can you add a firepit?+

Yes — gas or wood-burning, with proper clearance and a built-in seating wall if you want one.
